Annual Exams & Women's Health

Your annual exam is an important time to check-in on your overall wellness. It is an important part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Your physician will tailor your annual exam to your current age, medical history lifestyle needs. Typically your annual exam includes a pelvic exam, pap exam and breast exam.

Please feel free to discuss any issues or concerns you may be having. Depending on your age, past medical conditions or present concerns, we may also discuss mammograms, bone density screenings, birth control, HPV vaccinations and sexually transmitted infections.

Breast Screening

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in non-smoking women. Screening and early detection are the best methods women use to increase cure rates. 90% of breast cancer is detectable through a mammography screening. You can also routinely conduct a self-breast exam or schedule a breast exam to be done by a provider at OBGYN Physicians.

The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology recommends beginning screening mammography at the age of 40; however the American Cancer Society recommends starting screening mammograms at the age of 45. Mammography films can be done every 1-2 years depending on risk factors up until the age of 50. After the age of 50 an annual mammogram is highly recommended.
